I value theater that looks honestly at itself, and plays that are not afraid to be the thing that they turn out to be.
I want a theater where everybody’s invited in and we can share the work with the many communities that constitute our confused, hopeful, hobbled and emergent country.
I want my collaborators to know that I am like a dog with a bone – sticking to whatever thread of investigation I have found in the text until I have exhausted it.
I use rules and structures and constraints in order to be creative and fuel my process, especially at the start. Sometimes I don’t know when to let them go.
I find it hard to make a coherent argument or description of my work since (to me) seems to be so inconsistent.
I want to learn from my elders and the younguns coming up behind me.
